[tps_title]Controversy in the bantamweight divison?[/tps_title]
In another surprising turn of events, the scheduled bantamweight title contest between undefeated fighters Jason Alexander (4-0) and Dalton Brady (4-0) also didn’t happen as it was pulled from the fight card less than 24 hours before the first bell.
Apparently, there was a problem with Alexander’s paperwork where he had mistakenly marked on a document prior to a bout in Ohio in 2013 that he had gotten LASIK eye surgery. Due to potential complications, fighters who have undergone LASIK surgery are not allowed to compete in Ohio. According to Alexander, he has never undergone LASIK surgery and he mistakenly marked that he had on the document.
The error was brought to the commission, but without enough time to prove that he hadn’t in fact undergone the surgery, Alexander’s bout was pulled from the card.
As we mentioned here last week, the same bout has also been scheduled for next month’s Gladiators of the Cage 17 event outside of Pittsburgh, and at least some people have began speculation about why the bout was canceled in the first place. Read more about that here.
