Great Crescent Brewery
315 Importing St, Aurora
Great Crescent Brewery in Aurora, Indiana feels like you’re stepping back in time, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s a stripped down brewery in a blue collar area, and it’s one of the few that also serves food. In terms of the food, think of comfort food – pulled pork and chicken, burgers, etc. It’s not necessarily bad, but don’t go here expecting a five-star meal.
The brewery is also only open Thursday-Sunday, and they clearly get mostly locals, as we were asked where we were from upon sitting down at the bar. Another interesting thing about this bar is that they offer some unique options for beer, mostly adding syrup to their pale ale to make it a fruity option if you’re looking for something basic. Great Crescent has been around since 2008, making it one of the longest running breweries in the Cincinnati area.
Must-try beer: Coconut Porter – Way out in Aurora, Indiana, some people tend to forget about Great Crescent. Their Coconut Porter is a nice take on the classic style, with just enough nutty flavor from the coconut added in the boil. This is a beer that will warm you up on a cold day.
Other great beers: Cosmic IPA, Dark Lager
