Swine City Brewing
4614 Industry Dr, Fairfield
Swine City Brewing opened in January 2018, finally giving Fairfield its very own brewery. The atmosphere is family friendly and open inside the taproom, with their own kitchen in Underdogs Almost Famous Wieners. It’s basically a barn/warehouse hybrid with a small bar, several picnic tables for seating, and the brewing equipment in the back. It’s a no-frills blue-collar type of place.
Their beer styles run the gamut, from sours and goes to imperial stouts and double IPAs. We ordered a flight and were able to try a variety of styles.
There weren’t necessarily any standouts, but it’s nice that they have a little something for everyone, from the introductory craft beer drinker to a seasoned drinker who wants something more complex.
Must-try beer: This Is the New Stuff (New England IPA) – Swine City came right out of the gates swinging with their New England IPA, a nice hazy offering. It’s higher ABV than a lot of NE IPAs, coming in at 7.3%. Swine City has a ton of different offerings and may still be trying to find their wheel house when it comes to beer, but I’m betting this one will be part of their core for a long time.
Other great beers: Say It Loud (stout), Girl Got Reasons (gose)
