Verge Brewing originally planned to be Price Hill’s first craft brewery in a new development on Glenway Ave, but instead they announced in 2022 that their location will be in Delhi on Delhi Rd in a former carpet store.
The brewery will be a family affair, headed by a pair of father-daughter teams of experienced homebrewers. Greg Schmidt and his daughter Madison and Pete Bender and his daughter Angela Praksti will form the management team, along with Greg’s wife Tyra, a chemist who will be the quality control manager.
The group has been brewing together for about four years and has won more than 80 beer competitions.
The brewery also stands out as being both Native American and woman-owned. There are fewer than 10 Native American owned breweries in the U.S. and fewer than 3% of U.S. breweries are run or owned by women, according to Verge.
They’ve been doing popup tastings and fundraisers at breweries across Cincinnati, and they’ve partnered with Wunderfund to at least partially crowdfund the project. Esoteric Brewing Co. co-founder Marvin Abrinicia is the owner of Wunderfund.
