Mt. Carmel Brewing Company

Mt. Carmel Brewing Company

Mt. Carmel Brewing Company is another brewery that has been around Cincinnati for a long time – they opened in 2005. They are located east of the city and their taproom was an old farmhouse. The brewery underwent an expansion in 2019, and they opened the much larger “Carriage House” on the same property, serving all their beer as well as great food. They also have a pretty large patio that is perfect in the summer.

If you’re an ale fan, then Mt. Carmel is for you. Three of their most popular beers are the Amber Ale (6%), Nut Brown Ale (6%), and Coffee Brown Ale (6%). They of course have IPAs and wheat beers, and others, and while they often get overlooked in Cincinnati, they’re definitely worth taking another look at.

Must-try beer: Coffee Brown Ale – Mt. Carmel has been around Cincinnati for what seems like forever, and their beer was some of the first I had when I moved to the city. And the beer that I fell in love with is their Coffee Brown Ale, a nice dark beer brewed with Deeper Roots coffee that will help you get up in the morning. Just the scent of the beer is enough to put a coffee beer lover over the top.

Other great beers: Nut Brown Ale, Hibiscus Blueberry Blonde Ale
