1842 Brewery

1842 Brewery
NE Corner SR 16 & SR 17, Independence (coming soon)

1842 Brewery (originally called Sons of Independence) is a planned microbrewery in Independence, Kentucky. The brewery, which has been approved by the Independence city council, is slated to open sometime in 2023.

Sons of Independence will be a part of the planned Downs of Nicholson development, which will feature the brewery, two restaurants, 85 rental patio homes, and a large convenience store with gas pumps.

The larger restaurant, called Limestone, will share outdoor space with the brewery, which will both have a lake as their backyard and plenty of patio seating with room for outdoor entertainment.

The brewery will be about 7,000 square feet, with 4,000 square feet for the tap room and 3,000 square feet for brewing operations, plus a basement.

The microbrewery will be owned by a group of people that owner/developer Gary Holland went to high school with from Independence. Some members of the group are brewers and are already brewing batches to determine their lineup.

Jay Shelton will serve as head brewer.

One Holland Corp., the owners of 1842, decided to also open Barleycorn’s Brewhouse in Wilder after they decided the Independence location wasn’t happening fast enough.
