The Common Beer Co
126 E Main St, Mason
The Common Beer Co. opened in the heart of Mason in October 2018 with a 6.5 bbl system. Housed in a 1900s-era building, the taproom has a decidedly ‘neighborhood’ feel, with a large bar, high-top tables, some smaller tables, and an outdoor patio.
The initial tap list for the location featured a wide variety of offerings from IPAs to stouts and even a gose. The brewery features as many local ingredients as possible, from coffee to honey to hops.
If you’re looking for food, they have limited options like pretzels, salad, and pizza. I enjoyed the small feel of the brewery along with the excellent service from the bartenders who were more than friendly and had some knowledge of the beers.
The Common has quietly become a force to be reckoned with on the competition side, winning 11 medals at the US Open Beer Championship from 2020-2023, including a pair of golds.
Must-try beer: The Lortz Prayer (IPA) – A classic IPA, The Lortz Prayer is The Common’s flagship beer with a hop-forward punch and earthy finish.
Other great beers: Dark Cloud (Schwarzbier), Come Together (ESB)
