[tps_title]Gabelman, Hughes get finishes[/tps_title]
A pair of fighters who show the growth and expansion of the RFO picked up wins on the night. Although they hail from opposite ends of the state and weigh in on opposite ends of the scale, Cody Gabelman (3-1) and Jeff Hughes (2-0) are both examples of the type of rising star that I have come to expect to see in the RFO cage. Gabelman submitted the very tough Dennis Brown (3-2) despite some personal issues that caused him to miss weight, and he showed that he doesn’t get paid by the hour as it took him a little over a minute to pick up the win.
Hughes on the other hand had a much different fight, as he was controlled by Leviticus Roberson (1-2) in the first round. But the Evolve MMA fighter proved to be the more conditioned athlete, as he put his foot to the gas in the second round to outlast the Illinois product to get the win when Roberson was unable to make it to his feet between rounds and couldn’t answer the bell for the third round.
