The other marquee event this weekend will take place in Northern Kentucky, as Turf Wars returns to Turfway Park in Florence for Turf Wars 21. A trio of pro bouts are slated, headlined by a heavyweight battle between veteran big hitters Jim Davis (2-3) and Ron FieldsĀ (22-29-1). Davis has alternated wins and losses since turning pro in 2009, which means that he should be due for a win after a loss to Jesseray Childrey at Turf Wars 19 in June. None of his five pro bouts have made it out of the first round, with the longest lasting just 2:50. Fields has won 2 of his 3 bouts over the last year-plus, including a pair of quick TKO wins under the Turf Wars banner over Michael Cockerham and Kelly Pennington. His last outing was a loss to UFC veteran Bubba McDaniel in July.

Other pro bouts feature Tony Parker (9-9) vs. Steven Bell (1-3) and Bill Hill (18-27) vs. Keith Cunagin (6-5). Two amateur titles will be on the line, as Bryan McDowell (6-5) defends his welterweight title against Charlando Peoples (2-1), and Matthew Foley (6-1) defends his middleweight title against Brian Francisco (1-1). Matchmaker Adam Gomez, Parker, and Bell all joined BluegrassMMA Live earlier this week to talk about the fight card.
