Daniel Straus (23-5) is back in the mix.
That’s the storyline following the former Bellator MMA featherweight champion’s 50-second demolition of Justin Wilcox (14-7) at Bellator 127 on Friday night.
The Ohio native has remained near the top of Bellator’s 145-pound division for an extended period, and the win over Wilcox puts him right back in line for a title shot. In fact, he was promised a shot at the winner of September’s title tilt featuring Pat Curran and Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, which Freire won to take the title.
Straus did nothing to lose that title shot against Wilcox, as he flattened the Pittsburgh native with a counter left hand less than a minute into their headlining fight in California.
Straus recently relocated to Florida to train at the world renowned American Top Team, and his overall game has seen improvement in recent months.
