[tps_title]Colosseum Combat XXX: Thomas vs. Thorpe[/tps_title]
Colosseum Combat returns to its homebase in Kokomo, Indiana for its 30th event, which boasts one of the organization’s best lineups to date. In the main event, UFC/Bellator MMA veteran Ryan Thomas (19-8) will defend his welterweight title against M-1 Challenge veteran Josh Thorpe (12-12). Thomas had a 5-fight winning streak snapped at XFC 27 in December, as he dropped a controversial unanimous decision to Dom Steele. This will be his first time competing this year. Thorpe is just 1-9 in his last 10, dating back to 2011.
In the co-main event, TUF 12 veteran Daniel Head (10-9) is slated to face Ryan McIntosh (12-24). Head has struggled of late, with his last win coming in 2011. He’s just 3-7 since his time on the UFC’s reality show. McIntosh has been as active as ever in 2014, going 2-2 with wins over Matt Montalvo and David Bernas. He has also never been to a decision in his 36-fight pro career.
The event features four pro bouts overall, including an intriguing featherweight matchup pitting Luis Guerra (4-2) against Reggie Merriweather (4-5). The night’s other pro bout features Ronez McGrady (0-0, 8-2 am) vs. Christofer Sprinkle (0-0, 5-1 am).
Thomas and promoter Mark Slater both joined BluegrassMMA Live earlier this week to talk about the event. Check out the full 9-fight lineup here, and check back later for live stream information for this event.
