Josh Stansbury will finally be returning to the MMA cage, almost 15 months after his last official contest and for the first time since he was on The Ultimate Fighter 19. Stansbury, who boasts a 5-2 overall record, will head to Denver, Colorado on November 21st to face Jeremy Osheim in the co-main evnet at the Rock N Rumble event put on by Prize Fighting Championship.
The Ohio native Stansbury has won five bouts in a row after starting off his pro career 0-2, and he was cast as a member of The Ultimate Fighter 19. The NAAFS light heavyweight champion was dominating his preliminary bout against Chris Fields, but he suffered a knee injury and was unable to continue in the competition. He has been told by UFC officials that he’s on the short list of figters to get the call, but that call still hasn’t come and he finally has a fight to once again prove that he’s ready to compete in the Octagon.
Stansbury recently signed on with Guardian Sports Group, run by former UFC fighter Charles McCarthy. One of the most respected agents in the sport at this time, McCarthy also manages top prospect Mark Cherico, as well as current UFC fighters Alex White, Charles Rosa, Marcus Brimage, Rob Font, and more.
Osheim will certainly be a stiff test for Stansbury, as he has earned five stoppages during his 6-0 career, including three TKOs and two submissions. The Colorado native will have the home field advantage as he looks to remain perfect against Stansbury. The winner of this fight could conceivably sign with the UFC in the near future.
The event will be headlined by Chris Camozzi, as he competes for the first time since being cut by the UFC. He’ll face Bellator veteran Jeremy Kimball for the middleweight title.
