Turf Wars 22

November 22 – Florence, KY

Turf Wars returns to Northern Kentucky on Saturday night, featuring a robust fight card to close out 2014 with 18 fights, including a pair of pro fights. In the main event, Chicago area fighter Manny Vazquez (5-0) will return to Turf Wars, as he is set to face veteran Jeremy Pender (10-10) in a bantamweight bout. Vazquez was impressive with a win over Eric Moell at Turf Wars 20 in August, and he followed that up with a first round win last month under the King of the Cage banner. Pender fights for the fifth time this year, but he looks to pick up his second win in as many tries for the Turf Wars organization, as he submitted James Douglas in the first round at Turf Wars 19 in June.

The co-main event will feature Cincinnati area fighter Chris Dunn (8-5), as he returns to compete near home where he has a 2-0 record for the Turf Wars organization. Most recently, he traveled to Pittsburgh in August, where he dropped a tough split decision to Dom Mazzotta for Gladiators of the Cage. He’ll take on Texas native Warren Stewart (11-19), who is 4-3 in his last 7 contests.

A pair of amateur titles will also be on the line. Jamal Mohammed (5-0) will make his first title defense in the featherweight division, as he meets Nick Carter (3-2). Carter comes in with a three fight winning streak, all under the Turf Wars banner.

The lightweight title is up for grabs when contenders Cody Smith (4-2) and Evan Samad (6-1) square off. Samad once held the promotion’s 155 pound belt. Both Smith and Samad are explosive and this is an early pick for fight of the night.
