The second location for Mason’s 16 Lots is set to open next week, as 16 Lots Southern Outpost will open on May 19 at Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky.
The location is large, with 7,700 square feet of interior space which will house the 10 bbl brewery, taproom and an upscale gastropub. There is also a 3,000 square foot patio with views of the Ohio River, and a 1,000 square foot part of the brewery will be turned into “Sgt. Del’s Cigar Hideout.” The 10 bbl brewery will triple the production capacity for 16 Lots, from 1,000 barrels to 3,000 barrels annually.
16 Lots added the highly regarded Chris Mitchell as head brewer and co-owner, and recently added former Royce chef Royce Baumann to lead the food efforts.
The food menu features hot sharables like fried green tomatoes and smoked jumbo wings, cold sharables like ceviche and salads, and main courses like mussels, grilled octopus, fried bologna, pork, or chicken sandwiches, and pork belly.
16 Lots is known for their core beers like Soak City IPA – which has won medals at King of Ohio and Ohio Craft Brewer’s Cup – and The Major pilsner, as well as Kenny’s Dey Drinking Lager, a collaboration with former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson.
16 Lots describes the Southern Outpost as “Dedicated to Beer Exploration, Romance, & Knowledge. 16 Lots Southern Outpost is a welcome nautical reprieve from the workday world.”
16 Lots joins two other breweries with locations at Newport on the Levee, as Wooden Cask has a location inside The Gallery, and Lexington’s West Sixth has a location at Bridgeview Box Park.
