Listermann Trail House closes

Just over a year after opening, the Listermann Trail House has closed.

Listermann Brewing Company announced the closing on their social media after rumors circulated that a “permanently closed” sign had been placed on the door.

It was always an interesting choice for Listermann to open a second location just a few blocks from their main location in Norwood, but they made the bet that there would be folks willing to travel down the block who weren’t regulars at their main taproom. The Trail House location offered a more restaurant-type atmosphere with a pizza-focused menu and more of their traditional beer offerings.

Owner Dan Listermann mentioned previously that the location made sense because they were able to obtain a short-term lease as well. They had originally announced a second location in the Central Business District that was to be a German beer hall inspired space, but that fizzled when the pandemic hit.

The original Listermann taproom opened in 2008 after Dan Listermann opened his homebrew supply in the 1990s. The homebrew supply store is still open, and the Listermann taproom has become a popular place for Xavier basketball games and more.
