Cincinnati’s second-largest brewery will soon have a second location, as MadTree Brewing is set to open MadTree Alcove in the former Kaze space in Over-the-Rhine.
MadTree Alcove will open this fall in the 8,000 square foot space known as The Color Building, which most recently house Kaze, a Japanese sushi restaurant that closed in 2019. The unique space boasts a large indoor area as well as a great outdoor patio with Chinese elm trees. There are also multiple indoor bars and levels that will serve as private event spaces.
The building is owned by 3CDC and MadTree will lease the space.
MadTree, which is a member of 1% for the Planet and donates part of its profits back to the community, looks to liven up Over-the-Rhine with plenty of greenery and trees. OTR is known for its beautiful architecture and the MadTree space will incorporate that into the design.
In addition to MadTree beer, the Alcove will also feature house-made cocktails on tap, wine, cider, and a farm-to-table restaurant from chef Stephen Williams of Covington’s Bouquet Restaurant.
MadTree opened their original location in 2013 and quickly outgrew their small space. They opened “MadTree 2.0” in 2017 in Oakley and have continued to grow and be one of the gems of the Cincinnati craft beer scene.
