After a tumultuous year for local mixed martial arts, one promotion has made a plan to return to the Pittsburgh area next month.
247 Fighting Championships will host its first event of the year, as Brawl in the Burgh 4 is set to go down on Thanksgiving Eve – November 25 – at the Monroeville Convention Center in Monroeville.
The first bout for the event is already signed, as Justin Patton (5-3) and Cameron Allgeier (3-0) will square off for the promotion’s amateur bantamweight title. Both fighters come from top gyms in Pennsylvania and will compete for their first amateur title.
Patton trains out of The Academy MMA in Pittsburgh alongside UFC lightweight Khama Worthy. Patton made his amateur debut in 2015 and started off with a 2-3 record, but he has since rattled off three straight wins, including a submission over Justin Meese and a TKO over Steve Williams. He attempted to make his pro debut twice last year, but both bouts were eventually cancelled. Now, he’ll look to regain the momentum he had to potentially close out his amateur career with a title and a win. He’s ranked as the No. 5 amateur featherweight and No. 10 bantamweight in Pennsylvania according to Tapology.
The 21-year-old Allgeier trains out of Gorilla House Gym in Altoona, Pennsylvania alongside pro fighter Ethan Goss. He’s been impressive through three bouts, including two wins under the 247 FC banner. He most recently traveled to South Carolina earlier this month where he earned a decision victory at Ultimate Battle Grounds 4.
The promotion had their previous event in March cancelled on the day of due to coronavirus concerns, and then a planned subsequent event in June was also forced to be cancelled. This will be the promotion’s first event since November 16, 2019. Tickets for the event are extremely limited and will be on sale soon at 247Fighting.com. A live stream of the event is also expected to be available.
