After recently announcing a planned return on Thanksgiving Eve, Pittsburgh-area promotion 247 Fighting Championships has added a second event for Thanksgiving weekend.
247 FC: Brawl in the Burgh 5 is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Monroeville Convention Center in Monroeville, PA, just three days after Brawl in the Burgh 4 goes down at the same venue.
Announced for the event is a bout featuring Western Pennsylvania mainstays, as Ethan Goss (5-5) and Ethan Hayes (2-0) will square off.
Goss, who hails from Altonna, PA and represents Gorilla House Gym, fights for the first time since a disappointing loss to the red-hot John De Jesus at 247 FC: Brawl in the Burgh 2 last November. Prior to that bout, Goss had won three of four via stoppage, with his only loss coming via split decision at Bellator 186. Four of his five wins have come via stoppage, and he’s ranked as the No. 9 pro featherweight in Pennsylvania according to Tapology.
Hayes originally hails from West Virginia but now trains out of All-American MMA in Connellsville, PA alongside top lightweight prospect Nick Browne. After a lengthy amateur career that began in 2015, Hayes turned pro in 2019 and picked up submission wins over Keith Froelich and Jason Mullen in his first two bouts. This bout will be his first since February, as he looks to improve on his ranking as the No. 14 pro lightweight in Pennsylvania.
The promotion had their previous event in March cancelled on the day of due to coronavirus concerns, and then a planned subsequent event in June was also forced to be cancelled. This will be the promotion’s first events since November 16, 2019. Tickets for the event are extremely limited and will be on sale soon at 247Fighting.com. A live stream of the event is also expected to be available.
