With coronavirus restrictions lifting, Cincinnati has seen a rush of new breweries opening in recent weeks, and the next one to set an opening date is Sharonville’s Third Eye Brewing Co.
Owned and operated by a father-daughter team that has been homebrewing for years, Third Eye will become Sharonville’s first brewery. Situated across from the Sharonville Convention Center, the brewery will officially open to the public on June 17th.
The brewery, which will be open Wednesday through Sunday, features a large open taproom, as well as a large covered patio that can be used year-round. The taproom was a ground up build, and features beautiful touches like a large colorful mural behind the bar and custom wood tables from Cincinnati Wood Collaborative.
The brewing team features Brink Brewing Co. transplant Kelly Montgomery, as well as Chloe Schaefer. Montgomery brings a huge reputation with him from Brink, including winning the Best Very Small Brewery of the Year twice in a row at the Great American Beer Fest. Schaefer is no slouch herself, as she spent time on the west coast in UC Davis’ master brewer program, and also worked at Track 7 Brewing in Sacramento before training at Brink as well.
The styles they plan to brew will run the gamut, from a traditional Czech lager and kolsch, to multiple IPAs, including New England, west coast, and milkshake varieties. They’ll also throw in a raspberry wheat, chocolate oatmeal stout, hazelnut brown ale, and a Scottish wee heavy for good measure.
Third Eye’s kitchen will open up with what could be called upscale pub food, including cajun garlic herb wings, spent grain soft pretzel sticks, and a low country shrimp boil.
Third Eye looks to be a special space that will fit in nicely as a neighborhood brewery with an eye toward expansion in the future.
