Just days after wrapping up IT Fight Series 36 in Lima, one of Ohio’s busiest promotions already has its November event scheduled, as the organization will head to Dayton on November 21 featuring a headliner pitting Rob Hanna (6-0) in his featherweight debut against Matt DiMarcantonio (8-5).
The organization announced IT Fight Series 38 bout over the weekend, but a venue hasn’t been finalized.
Hanna, a Dayton native and resident, announced his intentions to drop to the 145 pound division earlier this month despite an impressive run at lightweight. He is also keeping good on his promise to his local fans to fight near home, which he hasn’t done since making his lone Bellator appearance at Bellator 78 in 2012.
Hanna picked up a victory over Rocky Edwards at that event, but he has yet to secure a big-show contract despite his impressive record with victories over notable fighters. He followed up the win over Edwards with a decision over Joey Holt, and then a submission over Todd Bevan last March. Most recently, he won the Gladiators of the Cage lightweight title with a victory over Mike Wilkins at GOTC MMA 18 in August.
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, DiMarcantonio will compete in Ohio for the seventh time in his pro career. The Canadian has won four of his past five bouts, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Khama Worthy. Most recently, he followed up a first round submission win over Francis Healy with another first round submission win over Bellator veteran Brylan Vanartsdalen at GPG 21 in New Jersey in July.
The organization also has IT Fight Series 37 scheduled to take place at the Stars Indoor Sports Complex in Columbus, Ohio on October 24.
