You may want to go ahead and mark your calendar for October 17, as the card released for RFO: Big Guns 17 – The Exorcism is one that fight fans won’t want to miss.
As we previously reported, five pro bouts are slated for Big Guns 17, including a headliner featuring featherweight veterans Cody “The Wolverine” Stevens (12-8-1) and Terrell Hobbs (9-8). The pro card also includes bouts featuring notables Josh Longood, John Gunther, Chico Bays, and RJ Buck.
The amateur card is just as deep as the pro portion, featuring ten bouts including a previously reported headliner featuring heavyweights Wayne Lanum and JD Ramsey.
Also on tap is RFO featherweight champion Adli Edwards (7-1), who is set to taken on unbeaten New York product Peter Mazzeo (7-0). Edwards won the RFO title in August with a decision victory over former champion Rich Cantolina, and he looks for his third straight win as he welcomes Mazzeo to the RFO for the first time. Mazzeo will compete for the first time since 2013, when he earned a decision over veteran Joe Goyette in his home state.
Another buzz-worthy matchup features Lance Phillips (6-0) vs. Tony Hodges (5-4) in a light heavyweight bout. Phillips has been dominant through his career, stopping all six opponents, including his most recent outing against Brenden Toler that earned him the IT Fight Series 205-pound title in May. Hodges returned from a hiatus of more than two years last month when he submitted Tyler Bostick in the second round at Big Guns 16.
The ladies will also get in on the action, as Allison Ainley (4-1) and Gemma Sheehan (2-0) will square off. Other RFO veterans and fan favorites like Bill Gingery (10-8), Dru Schottenheimer (7-8-1), and Brandon Odom (10-12) will also be in action.
Big Guns 17 takes place at Fairhaven Hall on the Richland County Fairgrounds on October 17.
