Hoosier Fight Club 24 went down at the Porter County Convention Center in Valparaiso, Indiana on Saturday night, and ten bouts were part of the pro/am card.
In the main event, Bellator veteran William Penn (12-4) picked up his fifth win in six outings. Penn outlasted fellow Bellator veteran Anthony Gomez (9-4) to take a three round unanimous decision in the matchup of power punching heavyweights. The two seasoned fighters spent the better part of the fight trading heavy leather, but Penn was able to come out on top in the eyes of the judges.
In the co-main event, Ricky Miller (1-0) and John McGuin (0-1) squared off in a grudge match that was the respective pro debut for both fighters, but it was Miller who was able to notch his first professional win after McGuin couldn’t answer the bell for round 2 due to his eye being swollen shut. Miller had an impressive 15-4 amateur record, and the 23-year-old now looks to make waves in his pro career.
Tom Shoaff (8-1) continues his climb back to the top of the mountain, as the verstatile fighter picked up his second win in a row after a well-placed right hand to the jaw earned him a knockout victory over Derek Loffer (9-4) in just 58 seconds. Shoaff is inching toward a potential shot at national organization with his sixth finish in eight victories.
Dustin Pape (6-2) got back on the winning track, as he rebounded from a February loss with a second round neck crank submission to tap Erick Lozano (3-5).
Devoniere Jackson (1-1) picked up his first pro victory after a knee to the face opened up a cut on Sean McMurray (3-1) that wouldn’t stop gushing, forcing the doctor to call the fight.
And in the night’s opening pro bout, Oliver Vazquez (4-1) earned a unanimous decision over Bobby Emmons (4-5) after opening up a cut over his right eye in the first round.
