After signing with the UFC last summer, Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman (7-0, 0-0 UFC) finally has a date set for his official UFC debut. The lightweight will face Anthony Christodoulou (12-5, 0-1 UFC) at the UFC Fight Night event in Nashville on August 8.
Holtzman, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, now lives and trains in Arizona at The MMA Lab gym that also produced the likes of former UFC champion Benson Henderson, former WEC champion Jamie Varner, UFC lightweight Efrain Escudero, UFC welterweight Rick Story, and more.
The former XFC champion has competed just once since the beginning of 2014, a victory over George Sheppard last April. When the XFC closed shop at the end of 2013, Holtzman immediately became one of the hottest free agents in the sport and signed with the UFC not long after.
The 31-year-old has three TKOs and one submission to his credit and he enters the UFC in the prime of his career.
Christodoulou is a Greek fighter who made his UFC debut in January where he was knocked out by Mairbek Taisumov in the second round. Prior to that, the Renzo Gracie product had won seven bouts in a row. He has four TKO victories and four submissions in his career.
UFC Fight Night: Nashville will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout featuring Ovince St. Preux taking on former title challenger Glover Teixeira. The card is expected to air on Fox Sports 1 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
