Hoosier Fight Club is set to once again invade the Porter County Convention Center, as HFC 24 goes down tomorrow night at the venue in Valparaiso, Indiana.
A pair of big Bellator veterans will square off in the night’s main event, as Anthony Gomez (9-2) is set to throw down with Indiana native William Penn (11-4) in a fantastic heavyweight bout. Gomez posted a 3-1 record under the Bellator banner, but hasn’t competed for the organization since a victory over Jason Guida at Bellator 112 last March. Since then, he’s earned victories over Robert Morrow and Miodrag Petkovich back on the regional circuit. He looks to improve on his 2-0 HFC record when he faces Penn.
Penn steps into the cage for the first time since last March, when he fell short against John Hawk at Driven MMA 1. The power puncher has earned 8 of his wins via strikes, including notable victories over Strikeforce veteran Jason Riley and UFC veteran Josh Hendricks. He has faced some top competition, inclduing former Sambo world champion Blagoi Ivanov and current UFC contender Stipe Miocic.
Another intriguing bout at HFC 24 features rising star Tom Shoaff (7-1) squaring off against Derek Loffer (9-3). Shoaff started off his career 6-0 before a loss to Kurt Kinser last year, but he rebounded with a win over Cameron VanCamp at HFC 23 in February to get back on the winning track. Iowa’s Loffer is 4-1 in his last five fights, with his only loss coming to former Bellator title challenger Rick Hawn in the main event at CES MMA 28 in March.
In another intriguing bout, Bobby Emmons (4-4) will continue his quest to find tough fights when he faces former Divison I wrestler Oliver Vazquez (3-1) in a featured bout. Emmons is just 1-3 in his last four outings after starting his career off at a 3-1 clip. Meanwhile, Vazquez has won three in a row after coming up short in his pro deubt.
