The lineup for tomorrow’s Caged Madness 33 event is complete, with the additon of a professional welterweight bout featuring Matt Anderson (1-3) taking on Matt Egner (3-5). The bout replaces a scratched fight featuring Jerrell Hodge (0-1) vs. Jeremiah Yeager (1-3), and will serve as the co-main event and one of two professional bouts on the card.
Anderson comes in looking to snap a two-fight skid, as he returned to action in October after a yearlong layoff due to injury. Despite suffering a nasty broken leg in his loss to Portland Pringle in October 2013, he was back in action 12 months later, where he was submitted by Aaron Jeffery at OFC XXII. Anderson turned pro in 2013 after a 6-3 amateur record and split his first two bouts, first coming up short against Matt DiCenso and then submitting Jeramy Karshner in the second round at UVC 23.
Egner is looking to build off of a win in his most recent outing, as he submitted Bellator veteran Dustin Kempf at Caged Madness 31 in August. That win snapped a four-fight losing streak for the veteran, who has competed in more than 20 bouts dating back to his amateur career.
Other last minute changes to the card include the addition of another amateur fight, as Josh Faison (1-6) and Delby Alford (2-4) will square off at a catchweight of 160 pounds. The only other change comes as Steve Allen (2-5) steps in as a replacement for Steve Stocker (3-2), and will now face Mike Seibert (2-2) at 185 pounds.
The main event features a welterweight bout pitting a pair of rising pro welterweights: Andrew Law (4-2) will look for his fifth pro win, as he welcomes Trent McCown (6-2) back into an Ohio cage for the first time since 2011. Both fighters are known as finishers, with all 10 of their combined wins coming via stoppage. And to add more intrigue to the bout, each fighter has only been stopped one time. It’s a great style matchup, as the aggressive and powerful McCown will look to impose his will on the lanky Law, a judo black belt who will undoubtedly look to land some of his crowd-pleasing throws.
