North High Brewing’s Hyde Park taproom opens this week (updated)

As a Columbus native, I’m always happy when Cincinnati gets a little infusion of capital city goodness – whether it’s from the likes of Homage, Condado tacos, or Ohio State spanking UC in football.

That’s why I’m super excited about the new Hyde Park taproom from Columbus’ own North High Brewing.

North High is a grizzled veteran when it comes to craft beer – having opened in 2012 in the Short North, which is right around the time that the Short North became cool.

They’ve since expanded to four locations – including Dublin, Springfield, and their production brewery on Cleveland Ave in Columbus. They’ve also got plans to open locations in Cleveland and Marion, continuing their rapid growth as part of the partnership with COhatch.

COhatch is a co-working startup, and they partnered with NHB on the space in Hyde Park. It’s three floors, with the top two dedicated to meeting and office space and the first floor featuring the taproom.

There’s food available, and while pizza is the featured item, it’s not the only offering. For some reason Cincinnatians get upset when we get a new brewery with pizza. I’m not sure why. Pizza is awesome.

In addition to round pies of goodness, their menu also features submarines (like the sandwich), wings, salad, and appe-teasers like polpettes (don’t Google it, it’s meatballs), and Co-hatched brochettes (flank steak).

They have beer too! From North High staples like Honey Wheat and Rise (west coast IPA) to seasonal and limited offerings like Wired (coffee stout), Stick (hockey-themed amber ale), Coffee Crop (coffee-infused blonde ale), and a Blackberry Shandy, they’ve got pretty much everyone covered. Even the haze bros.

The space is currently open, and they’re planning some sort of Covid-friendly grand opening this weekend. Reservations – which are recommended, but not required – can be made through their website.

North High also plans two more collaboration spaces with COhatch in Cincinnati – one in Kenwood Town Centre (scheduled to open summer 2021) and one somewhere in Northern Kentucky.

Updated to include details of North High’s planned locations at Kenwood and in Northern Kentucky.
