As we move forward into the future of craft beer, we can expect to see some breweries take different approaches that expands from the traditional taproom breweries and brewpubs that we’ve become used to.
One such example is Wooden Cask Brewing Company‘s recently opened taproom at the Bridgeview Box Park at Newport on the Levee.
The “taproom” is part of the open air box park, which itself is a centerpiece for the redevelopment of the Levee. Wooden Cask shares their space with Second Sight Spirits, which itself is a unique distillery in Ludlow.
My wife and I biked across the river to Newport from our home in the East End, where we visiting the Bridgeview Box Park.
Wooden Cask is located in the corner, and when we were there they featured five beers and a cider, including Levee Lager, Wooden Path hefeweizen, There Gose Cutie tangerie gose, Pacific Time IPA, Newporter English brown porter, and Peach Orchard Cider.
I had the gose, which had just enough citrus flavor and was perfect and light for a warm summer day. I also tried Angie’s cider, which was not overly sweet and delicious as well. Wooden Cask has some of the more underrated cider in Cincinnati.
The box park is a perfect summer hangout. It features plenty of shade, as well as other vendors like a plant store, Che empanadas, Bon Mi street food, The Little Spoon bakery & cafe, and Kon Tiki tiki bar.
