One of the newest additions to the Cincinnati brewery scene is Fairfield’s Swine City Brewing.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of a less-polished version of the original Rivertown Lockland location. It’s basically a barn/warehouse hybrid with a small bar, several picnic tables for seating, and the brewing equipment in the back. It’s a no-frills blue-collar type of place.
Their beer styles run the gamut, from sours and gose to imperial stouts and double IPAs. We ordered a flight and were able to try a variety of styles. There weren’t necessarily any standouts, but it’s nice that they have a little something for everyone, from the introductory craft beer drinker to a seasoned drinker who wants something more complex.
Our flight consisted of:
-Double Down Double Up IIPA (8.5%)
-Say It Loud! Stout (8.5%)
-Girl Got Reasons Gose (3.7%)
-In Your Head Sour
-This is the New Stuff NE IPA (7.3%)
The New England IPA was interesting, as it was bitter and not as hazy as I’d expect from a NE IPA. My favorite of the group was the Double Down, as it was smooth and easy-drinking despite being 8.5% ABV.
