After opening their original Oxford location in 2010, Quarter Barrel recently expanded to a second location in Hamilton in January 2018.
On first impression, the spot is a little smaller than we expected, and we were able to grab the last two seats at the bar as a group left just as we were entering.
The front door opens to the main brewery, with a decent sized bar and the brewing equipment on the right in view of the customers. To the left there are tables for seating, and it’s packed in pretty snugly.
They have a full-service restaurant, but we didn’t eat and were just there for a drink. With what appeared to be about a dozen taps, it was a little disappointing that they only had three of their own offerings – a saison, Belgian, and an IPA.
Surprisingly, I ordered the saison and actually liked it, although it’s not typically a style I gravitate to. Angie had the IPA, and it was average but drinkable.
It’s a good sign that they appear to be pretty busy while still in their grand opening phase, and they are a great addition to the growing Butler County beer scene.
