The injury bug has bitten next weekend’s RFO: Big Guns 17 – The Exorcism card, as the main event and a trio of key amateur bouts have fallen off of the schedule.
According to RFO promoter Matt Trukovich, main eventer Cody “The Wolverine” Stevens (12-8-1) was forced off of the card due to an injury. He was slated to take on Terrell Hobbs (9-8) in a featherweight bout.
On the amateur side of things, a heavyweight bout between JD Ramsey (4-1) and Wayne Lanum (8-1) has been scrapped, and RFO featherwight champion Adli Edwards (7-1) recently posted on his Facebook page that he was forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Peter Mazzeo (7-0).
To add insult to all of the injuries, Tony Hodges (5-4) also pulled out of his bout against Lance Phillips (6-0), leaving the unbeaten fighter without an opponent.
Despite all of the injuries and cancelations, the fight card still features a dozen bouts, including four pro bouts.
The new main event will feature unbeaten pro lightweight Josh Longood (2-0) taking on Kentucky native Kendale Young (1-0).
John Gunther (1-0) vs. Chris Tucker (1-2), , Chico Bays (1-0) vs. Tony Dipiero (0-0, 9-7 am), and RJ Buck (1-1) vs. Mike Williams (2-4) are the three other pro bouts.
The eight fight amateur card will be highlighted by a women’s bout featuring Allison Ainley (4-1) taking on Gemma Sheehan (2-0).
Big Guns 17 takes place on Oct. 17 at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield, Ohio. Check out the updated card below.
