The fight card is set for this weekend’s RFO: Big Guns 17 – The Exorcism event, and it’s as deep of a card as you’ll see in the Ohio Valley. With 14 fights total, fans will be treated to four pro fights as well as ten amateur pairings.
Despite a wealth of injuries and fighters backing out, the final card could be an early finalist for event of the year.
Matchmaker Scott Corbin added yet another fight earlier this week, as Apineru “Jason” Vele (4-1) steps in after the entire Turf Wars 28 event was canceled, and he’ll face Aleksa Camur (2-0) in a light heavyweight bout.
In the main event, undefeated professional bantamweights will square off as Mansfield’s own Josh Longood (2-0) is set to welcome Kentucky native Kendale Young (1-0) to the RFO cage for the first time. Longood has vowed to “protect his house” en route to keeping his perfect record intact.
In the co-feature, Strong Style’s RJ Buck (1-1) makes his RFO debut, taking on one of the organization’s regulars in Mike Williams (2-4). Buck is looking to bounce back from a loss to Eric Bledsoe in his last outing, while Williams has lost his first two bouts this year.
In another anticipated pro bout, lightweights will throw down as Strong Style’s John Gunther (1-0) also returns to his hometown of Mansfield to face Cincinnati product Chris Tucker (1-2). Gunther believes that it is his superior facial hair that will guide him to victory against “Rush Hour.”
Buck and Gunther will be part of a total of five Strong Style fighers on the card, as amateurs Camur, Allison Ainley, and Kenny Locsei will join them.
The night’s fourth pro bout will feature middleweights squaring off, as Tony Dipiero (0-0, 9-7 am) makes his pro debut against Ronin’s Chico Bays (1-0).
