Caged Madness 38

Explosive Fight Promotions returned to their home base at the Tadmor Shrine in Akron, Ohio on Saturday night, as Caged Madness 38 featured a 15-bout lineup at the venue.

It was a big night for fighters making their pro debut, as both Marc McDonald (1-0) and Devonte Smith (1-0) picked up their first pro victories in impressive performances.

McDonald earned the “fighter of the night” trophy for his three-round decision victory over Josh Rohler (0-1), who had also had an impressive amatuer career.

Smith continued to show that he improves in leaps and bouts, and he completely put John Mosley (1-2) to sleep with a vicicous combination that included a flush right hand and a short retreating uppercut.

The main event of the night featured a Bellator veteran, as Dustin Kempf (7-8) picked up his first win since 2010 as he submitted Michael Shields (2-7) via guillotine in the first round. Kempf snapped a four fight-losing streak in the process, as this was his first appearance in more than a year.

On the amateur side of things, a few fighters kept their perfect records intact, including super heavyweight Nick Brashear (5-0), flyweight Nikolai Gionti (4-0), and middleweight Logan Urban (3-0). AJ Wilkins (2-0) also earned his second victory via unanimous decision.
