Unbeaten heavyweight Jeff Hughes (3-0) will face the stiffest test of his pro career tonight when he takes on Curt Lemmon (4-1) at RFO: Big Guns 16 – The Summit, but earlier this year he took out another tough foe when he faced Leviticus Roberson (1-2) at Big Guns 15 in March.
The Illinois native pushed the pressure against “Lights Out” in the first round, using grinding clench work and takedowns to keep Hughes at bay.
But the tide turned in the second frame, as Hughes began to keep his distance and boxing to slow down the clearly tiring Roberson.
Roberson was unable to answer the bell for the third round, and Hughes was declared the winner. Hughes moved to 2-0 with the win, and he recently picked up his third stoppage win in as many outings when he stopped Ed Abrasley via TKO in the first round.
