One of the sport’s longest running and most storied organizations will make its debut in Western Pennsylvania this weekend, as King of the Cage: Lone Survivor is set to go down at the Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The event features plenty of local flavor, including a featherweight tilt pitting West Virginia native and Fight Club Pittsburgh product Justin Steave (6-5) against Tennessee native and Bellator/XFC veteran Chris Coggins (7-8). Steve looks to break out of a slump where he has lost three of four bouts, with his only win in that span coming via submission over Brylan Vanartsdalen 11 months ago. Coggins has also had a tough go of things recently, as he is just 2-7 in his last nine fights after starting his career off at a respectable 5-1.
Also in action will be Weirton, WV native Eric Bledsoe (3-1), who is set to face Canadian Adrian Vilaca (4-1) in a lightweight bout. Bledsoe recently bounced back from the first loss of his career, as the 25-year-old Bullpen Fight Club product stopped Mike Williams in just 1:21 with an impressive TKO performance at RFO: Big Guns 15 last month. Vilaca has won his last two and has two submission wins in his career.
Also in action will be Charlie Gathers (8-7), as he is set to face Jeremiah Yeager (1-3) in a bantamweight bout. Gathers has a lot on the line, as he also has a title bout scheduled next month in the main event at IT Fight Series 33.
A fourth pro bout will feature Pittsburgh’s Francis Healy (4-2) against Strikeforce veteran Charon Spain (10-15). The pro action will kick off at heavyweight as West Virginia’s Nathan Bryant (3-4) faces Kentucky-based veteran Jerry Burns (9-19).
On the amateur side of things, Melissa Gasdick (3-0) looks to stay unbeaten against Illinios’ Chi Sheibley (4-1).
The event will be available to more than 50 million homes via KOTC’s broadcast deal with Mav TV.
