The bout lineup is set for next week’s IT Fight Series 30 event, and the card has been released exclusively to BluegrassMMA.com by the promotion. The fight card features an Ohio vs. Georgia theme, and is currently packed with 18 bouts, including four pro contests. IT Fight Series 30 takes place on January 31 at Bellefontaine High School in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
In the main event, Georgia’s C.J. Hamilton (4-2) will face Indiana’s Jarred Brooks (3-0). The professional flyweight contest will feature the pair of up-and-coming fighters, as Hamilton is looking to rebound from a loss in his last outing in October. Brooks has had an impressive career, including three submissions in three pro outings. He also had an impressive amateur career, going 11-0, meaning he has yet to taste defeat during his MMA career.
Three other pro bouts are on tap, including Ohio middleweights Jesse Murray (1-0) vs. Davis Oracio (1-0) and Caleb Fickert (2-1) vs. Timmy McCavit (3-1). Both Northwest Ohio based fighters, Fickert and McCavit have been on a collision course and it’s a surprise they haven’t met thus far. Both fighters were victorious at IT Fight Series 29 in November, with Fickert submitting Larry Ray while McCavit finished Eric Atttard in under an minute with a guillotine choke.
The final pro matchup is actually a rematch, as Georgia’s D’Angelo Bynum (2-1) will face Ohio’s Raymond Yanez (3-5) for a second time. Their first meeting came at an IT Fight Series in August 2013, which Yanez took via unanimous decision.
In amateur action, three titles will be on the line, including the flyweight, light heavyweight, and lightweight titles.
At flyweight, Devin Mazik (4-1) will face Floyd Cisco (3-2). Mazik has won his last two, while Cisco is on a three-fight winning streak after dropping his first two bouts.
At light heavyweight, Jahci Lyles (3-0) will put his unbeaten record on the line when he faces Georgia’s Jay Gray (5-1) at 205 pounds. Lyles has been incredibly impressive thus far in his career, finishing all three of his bouts via TKO in the first round, with an average fight time of just 57 seconds. Gray has been impressive as well, as he is currently riding a five-fight winning streak after dropping his debut fight.
The final title fight will be at lightweight, as Treg Wells (5-3) will face Brian “Bo” Smith (6-1). Wells has won four in a row, including three via stoppage. Four of Smith’s wins are via submission, although he hasn’t competed since 2010.
