Weekend Preview

The year is starting to wind down, and so is the number of mixed martial arts events in the area with the busy holiday season fast approaching. Many organizations have been closing out their 2014 schedules, and two more will do the same this weekend, with OFC XXIII going down in Columbus, Ohio, and Supreme Cage Fighting heading to Peru, Indiana.

Check out what’s on tap this weekend in the Ohio Valley, and be sure to return back here to BluegrassMMA.com early next week for results and recaps from all of the weekend’s action. [/tps_header]

[tps_title]OFC XXIII: Korbel vs. Kazbekov[/tps_title]December 13 – Columbus, OH

Our very own Juan Valle will return to Ohio’s capital on Saturday night, as he takes in all of the action at Ohio Fighting Championship‘s last event of 2014. An all-amateur lineup is on tap, including a highly anticipated bantamweight title headliner featuring local favorite Donny Korbel (9-6) taking on Canada’s Vladimir Kazbekov (5-1).

Korbel makes his first appearance since winning the EFP bantamweight title with a victory over Saeed Garner in July, and he comes in 5-1 in his last 6 fights. This will be the third title fight for the 29-year-old Columbus native. Kazbekov looks to improve on his impressive amateur record, which includes 4 first round stoppages in his 5 wins.

IT Fight Series matchmaker and BluegrassMMA Live regular Aaron Garrett (5-6) will also be back in action, as he takes on Will Duffy (5-3) with a heavyweight title shot on the line. Check out the full fight card here.
