It has been a long time since we’ve seen a mixed martial arts event from Northwest Ohio’s Purgatory Fight Series, but the organization will make its return almost exactly one year to the date of its last show when it hosts PurgatoryFS 14: The New Era on Saturday, March 15 from the Grand Plaza Hotel in Downtown Toledo.
The organization recently released its 4-fight main card that will top the pro/am event, with some of the Ohio Valley’s top lighter weight fighters being featured. In the main event, bantamweights Josh Robinson (9-8) and Corey Simmons (5-6) will square off in a battle that could easily be fight of the night.
Robinson, who has won 2 of his last 3 bouts, will compete for the organization for the first time since 2011, when he lost a split decision to Andrew Huffman at PurgatoryFS 4. Simmons comes in looking to snap a 2-fight losing streak, as he has been competing on the East Coast in his last 2 bouts.
In the co-main event, popular Michigan based fighter Dom Sindone (3-1) will look to bounce back from his first career loss, which came at the hands of Simmons in Indiana last June. Sindone will face Indiana’s Darby Halferty (2-0) in a bantamweight bout, as he looks to stay unbeaten as a pro.
In other pro action, Northwest Ohio bantamweights will square off as XFC veteran Jordan Espinosa (3-2) looks to halt a skid of losting 2 of 3 when he faces veteran Jake Grigson (5-3). Grigson will compete for the first time since losing to Sindone at PurgatoryFS 12 last year.
The night’s final pro bout will also feature bantamweights, as Rustin Jones (1-3) faces Jordan Gonzales (0-1).
