Misrule Brewing
325 S College Ave, Oxford (Gaslight Brewhouse)

Misrule Brewing originally opened in April 2025 inside Bello Woodfired Pizza Studio, once again giving Oxford, Ohio a brewery taproom. They moved to a new home in April 2026 inside Gaslight Brewhouse in Oxford. The home of Miami University had been without a brewery for a few years since Quarter Barrel closed their doors in 2019.
Started by three professors who wondered why Oxford didn’t have a taproom, the project began in a barn before their beer started popping up at festivals and restaurants.
Owned by Rhett Brymer, Eric Stenstrom, Brandon Ney, Michael Conger, and Dow Scoggins – the brewery gets its name from the Lord of Misrule from medieval times where the order was flipped. It was a period of temporary reversal of the social order, where masters served their servants and people were encouraged to act foolishly.
In 2026, they partnered with Gaslight Brewhouse to open up a new Misrule Brewing taproom.
They opened with a handful of beer styles that you don’t see everyday, and also featured some collaborations, including with The Common Beer Company, where their brewer Brandon Ney also works.
Their beers include:
- Cradle of Kolsches
- On the Shoulders of Giants (Bohemian Pilsner)
- Bellissimo (Italian Pilsner – collab with The Common)
- Foggy Notion (Steam Beer – collab with The Common)
- Chapeau Gris (Saison – collab with The Common)
- Bro Hugs (New England IPA)
- Velvet Buzz (milk stout – collab with Third Eye)
- Hive Mind (cider – collab with Northwood)
