A visit to LOCOBA by Platform Beer Co

When Platform Beer Co announced they’d be opening a taproom in Cincinnati last year, many assumed it would echo their Cleveland and Columbus offerings.

But instead, Cincinnati got something special, and they call it LOCOBA – or Local Coffee Barrels.

Located in the heart of Over the Rhine, LOCOBA features not only craft beer, but also coffee, wine and spirits, all married in one small space. The only brewing on-site consists of beer aged in spirit barrels, which will then age coffee beans, and it will all be served together, along with food options throughout the day.

LOCOBA fits in with the hip, trendy spots in OTR – it’s open and airy, with lots of modern touches, including plenty of greenery and a living wall.

Platform always has fresh offerings available, and if there’s a trendy style you’re dying to try, they probably have it. I tried their Mello Hello Brut IPA, and it was a nice example of a style that I’ve really been enjoying more and more lately. It’s got a nice hop character with a dry and bitter-free finish. Their Speed Merchant white IPA and Haze Jude New England IPA are also fan favorites that were available.

LOCOBA is a nice flexible space that’s perfect for any time of day, whether you’re looking for a caffeine fix, or an adult beverage.
