So all of a sudden, the northern Cincinnati suburb of Mason is a hotbed for new breweries. Going from no breweries at the start of 2017 to three today – The Common Beer Co. is one of the newest located in the heart of Mason.
The product of a husband and wife team in Mark and Amy Lortz, Common has a decidedly “neighborhood” feel, designed to be a local hangout with regulars in mind. The brewery is fairly small, with a decent-sized bar as well as high top tables and a few shorter tables. There’s also a small outdoor patio area with a fire pit.
Head brewer Justin Chaney came over from Swine City, and the initial tap list for the location features a wide variety of offerings from IPAs to stouts and even a gose.
If you’re looking for food, they have limited options like pretzels, salad, and pizza.
I enjoyed the small feel of the brewery along with the excellent service from the bartenders who were more than friendly and had some knowledge of the beers.
If you’re up in Mason definitely check out The Common Beer Co.
