This week’s Throwback Thursday features a lightweight battle between Rob Hanna and Joey Holt that took place at Pinnacle FC 6 on March 29, 2014.
Hanna came into the bout with a 3-0 record, but he hadn’t competed in more than a year after his Bellator 78 victory over Rocky Edwards in late 2012. Holt was 3-1 and was looking to rebound from a loss to Julian Lane at Pinnacle FC 5 from November 2013.
The fight started out with a torrid pace, as Holt dropped Hanna less than a minute in with a big right hand. Hanna survived that knockdown and the onslaught that ensued, eventually turning the tide to win the second and third rounds to take the decision victory.
Neither fighter has lost since this fight, as Holt has put up four straight wins to move to 7-2 while Hanna is now 6-0 overall.
Hanna returns this weekend at IT Fight Series 38 in Dayton, where he will make his featherweight debut against Matt DiMarcantonio in the main event with the 145-pound title on the line.
The next Pinnacle FC event takes place on Thanksgiving Eve as Dominic Mazzotta faces Justin King in the main event of Pinnacle FC 12.
