Cleveland-based fighter John Hawk (11-5) is about to get perhaps the biggest opportunity of his career, as “Big John” is headed to Russia, where he will face Denis Golstov (15-4) for the GEFC heavyweight title at a Tech-KREP Fighting Championship event on October 10. Hawk made the official announcement on his Facebook page last week.

Hawk will come into the bout riding a three-fight winning streak since returning to the heavyweight division last year. He is actually undefeated as a heavyweight, with his only losses coming during his three-year run at light heavyweight from 2010-2013.

A three-time Bellator veteran, the Strong Style MMA fighter picked up two wins in the promotion, including a victory over Allan Weickert and an upset over Marcus Vanttinen.

Most recently, Hawk won the NAAFS heavyweight title for the second time in his career, as he earned a unanimous decision over Curt Lemmon at NAAFS: Caged Vengeance 16 in March.

The 24-year-old Golstov is a six-time Tech-KREP FC veteran and has yet to be defeated in the promotion. He’s also riding a 10-fight winning streak and has notable victories over Bellator veterans Roy Boughton and Peter Graham and Strikeforce veteran Brett Rogers.

Most recently, he stopped UFC and “The Ultimate Fighter” alum James McSweeney with a TKO that resulted from a head kick and punches in his last outing in July.

It appears as though the bout between Hawk and Golstov is slated to be the night’s main event, and that the event will also be streamed via the organization’s website, www.techkrepfc.com.
