The lineup is set for this weekend’s IT Fight Series 34 card, as 16 bouts are set to go down at The Cube in Findlay, Ohio on Saturday. The headliner will feature a pair of experienced professional welterweights, as Tim McCavit (4-1) is set to take on Kentucky’s Portland Pringle (6-4) at 170 pounds.
Other pro bouts feature Tray Taylor (1-3) vs. Steve Smith (6-9) and UFC veteran Albert Cheng (4-3) vs. Reggie Merriweather (7-6).
An Iron Tiger Fight Team product, McCavit looks to extend his four-fight winning streak when he steps in across from Pringle. Hailing from nearby Bellefontaine, McCavit figures to have home field advantage in the bout. The 32-year-old has stopped his last four opponents in the first round, including a January TKO victory over Caleb Fickert at IT Fight Series 30. Pringle has dropped his last three bouts, but he has earned stoppages in all six of his victories, including three submissions and three TKOs.
After dropping his first three bouts as a pro, Iron Tiger Fight Team’s Taylor picked up his first win in March when he stopped Curtis Doner with a TKO in the third round. He’ll face the veteran Smith, who is just 2-8 in his last 10 bouts.
Merriweather will be looking to stay above .500 in what should be one of the toughest tests of his career. The Cincinnati area product is 3-1 in his last four bouts, including a first round TKO over Matthew Montalvo at Colosseum Combat XXXII in May.
Cheng, who hails from Ontario, Canada, competed on the UFC’s inaugural “TUF: China” and made it to the semifinals. He made his official UFC debut at the show’s finale, losing to Wang Anying before receiving his UFC release. He has since bounced back with a vengeance, earning stoppage victories over Matt Brown and Matthew Egner under the IT Fight Series banner.
Two amateur titles will also be up for grabs, as Danny Moore (6-5) and Mark Carosella (4-0) will square off for the vacant featherweight title, while Dalton Brady (5-0) looks to defend his bantamweight title for the first time against Ryan Moore (4-0).
Danny Moore has won his last two bouts, with decisions over Brandon Odom and Jason Rine last fall. Carosella looks to keep his unbeaten record intact, as he has picked up three wins via submission in his career.
Brady is just 20 years old, but already the Canadian has become one of the biggest amateur stars in the Ohio Valley. Most recently, he submitted Jason Alexander in the second round of their highly anticipated bout in June. Ryan Moore is also unbeaten, but he hasn’t competed since 2011, when he earned his fourth victory in a row via submission.
IT Fight Series 34 will also be streamed live via LiveSportscaster.com.
