Turf Wars made their debut in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday night, as Turf Wars 25 went down at Heritage Hall and featured ten bouts, including three professional contests.
In the main event, Michael Roberts (4-4-1) eked out a split decision over David Suter Jr. (1-2), while Ohio native Muhammad Abdullah (5-1) took a unanimous decision over Steven Bell (3-6) in the co-main event and also the night’s only other fight that made it to the judges’ scorecards.
The third pro fight featured Michael Cockerham (9-15) snapping a five-fight losing streak as he submitted T.J. Eskew (2-6) for the second time.
On the amateur side of things, both Jamal Mohammed (7-0) and Bryan McDowell (10-6) successfully defended their titles. Mohammed submitted Shawn Nickell (7-2) with an arm bar in the third round to defend his featherweight title, while it took McDowell just 50 seconds to tap Donnie Cox (3-3) with a guillotine to defend his welterweight gold.
