The fight card is coming together for Caged Madness 33, which will be the first foray into 2015 for the long-running Explosive Fight Promotions organization. The pro/am event is set to take place on January 17th at West High Auto in New Philadelphia, Ohio, which is about 30 miles south of Canton.
The main event features an intriguing pro bout between a pair of veterans from the area, as Andrew Law (4-2) takes on Trent McCown (6-2) in what could be a fight of the night candidate. Both fighters are known for exciting fights and finishes, and the two twentysomething fighters have big-show aspirations.
Law has finished all four of his professional victories via stoppage, including two TKOs and two submissions. His most recent win was last May, when he stopped Anthony Morgan via submission due to strikes at OFC XXI. He’ll be looking to rebound from a loss though, as he was stopped by Ian Rammel in the third round of their bout in September.
McCown fights for the first time since May 2013, when he dropped a unanimous decision to current UFC fighter Yosdenis Cedeno at CFA 11. The 24-year-old racked up a trio of stoppage wins in the RFO organization in Ohio to kick off his pro career, and he then signed with the Florida-based CFA, where he posted a 3-2 record.
Another pro bout is also on tap, as Jerrell Hodge (0-1) will face Jeremiah Yeager (1-3). Both fighters are still looking to get their pro careers off of the ground after posting impressive slates as amateurs. Hodge was 11-1 as an amateur incluidng winning the prestigious NAAFS and Pinnacle FC titles. He lost his pro debut, though, as he was submitted by Shaine Moffitt in just 38 seconds last June.
Yeager was 8-2 as an amateur, including winning the GOTC title. He started his pro career 0-3 before picking up his first win in November with a TKO stoppage.
Some cage reinforcemens will be needed for the amateur main event, as a pair of large heavyweights will square off for the EFP title. Stepping in at 6’4″ and 255 pounds, former NCAA All-American wrestler J.D. Ramsey (4-0) is set to take on the 6’9″, 230-pound unbeaten Brock Mowry (5-0). Both fighters have been dominant thus far, so this should be a great battle of two rising stars.
The event also features the semifinals of a 205-pound amateur tournament, as Bryan Howe (7-7) faces Christopher Wood (3-2), and Raymond Hollis (3-2) squares off against Mesmaran Sunsearay (3-1).
