After a busy month of October, the MMA action in the Ohio Valley will slow down over the next two weekends, with Halloween coming up. But the landscape still isn’t bare, as Warrior FC will head to Corbin, Kentucky this weekend for a pro/am event.
As always, be sure to check back to BluegrassMMA.com early next week for results from all of this weekend’s action. [/tps_header]
Warrior FC: Caged Aggression
October 25th – Corbin, KY
Warrior FC returns to Corbin, Kentucky on Saturday night, with a fight card featuring pro and amateur bouts. Michael Cockerham (8-11) will compete for the 10th time in 2014, as he is set to take on Jerry Burns (8-19). Cockerham has posted a 5-4 record so far this year, and he looks to stay above .500 on the year with a win over Burns. His most recent outing was a loss, as he took a fight on short notice against Ron Fields at Turf Wars 21 earlier this month. Burns has won two straight fights via knockout this year, snapping a five-fight losing streak that dated back to 2010.
In another pro bout, Jonathan Cook (3-2) will take on Brandon Bell (2-3) for the organizaton’s middleweight title. Cook looks to build off of a TKO win over Scott Hope, although that bout was 11 months ago. His other two wins are over fighters who are also on the card in Cockerham and Burns. Bell is the current Warrior FC middleweight champion, as he earned that title with a TKO win over Hope in April.
Three amateur titles will also be on the line, at lightweight, welterweight, and heavyweight. Virginia’s Chachi Tabor (5-2) is set to take on Tennessee’s Raymond Strohl (2-3) at lightweight, while Chris Hansford (6-5) faces George Campbell (3-0) at welterweight. And the heavyweight title will be on the line, as Jeremy Long (3-4) faces Justin Goodin (2-1).
Hansford joined BluegrassMMA Live earlier this week to discuss his fight at this event, as well as his upcoming Hardrock MMA title fight.
