BROOKFIELD, OH – The MMA Brawlroom cage returned to Brookfield on Saturday night, as Yankee Lake Brawlroom 40 featured nine amateur bouts on the evening. A solid crowd packed inside the Yankee Lake Ballroom to witness some up-and-coming fighters looking to make a statement inside the cage.
In the main event, veteran Victor Guarriello (7-6) picked up his second straight victory, as he earned a unanimous decision over Jeff Mock (2-2) in the clear fight of the night. Guarriello earned scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 to move his record above .500 once again. The win is even more impressive for Guarriello, who took the fight on less than a week’s notice. Guarriello controlled the action for much of the three rounds, using his wrestling and positioning to keep the edge. Mock stayed aggressive, landing some big shots in the fight while looking to finish Guarriello. But Guarriello was too tough, mixing his striking and wrestling en route to a unanimous win.
Rock Hard MMA product Josh Rohler (2-0) put on one of the most impressive performances of the night, as he shook off a last-minute opponent change to still earn a kimura submission victory in just 40 seconds. Rohler’s original opponent was 0-1, but he instead faced 7-fight veteran Derek Hayes (2-6) on short notice and picked up the best submission of the night.
The knocked of the night went to featherweight Jeff Sayer (1-1), who stopped Darrell Alford (0-2) with a thudding body kick in the second round of their bout.
